New Potholders etc. for Plaza Festival!

Oklahoma City folks -- I’ve just restocked DNA Galleries with a fresh batch of my signature scrappy potholders. These babies are durable, washable, and made to be used!

In addition, I delivered several sets of my newest product, bowl cozies. Perfect for a hot bowl of soup, cold bowl of ice cream, steaming teapot, or anything just out of the microwave.

Like the potholders, the bowl cozies are washable, reversible, and have hanging loops.

The 25th Annual Plaza District Festival is coming up, so that’s a perfect time to visit DNA Galleries!

Click here for all the event info.

If you’re not going to the festival, there will be other opportunities to purchase potholders and bowl cozies. (Want to get yours right now? Just email sarah@sarahatlee.com)

Who doesn't love a good Tote Bag?

Do you love tote bags? Do you, like me, have perhaps not one but several bags of bags sorted by size, material, function, etc? Welcome to the totes party. I have totes for future groceries, totes from past groceries, totes for holding recycling, and totes just to be recycled. Among others.

Click here for a demonstration of the phrase Totes m’Goats! Be sure to watch the video featuring James Earl Jones (RIP).

And here is a story about a goat that can and has literally been toted.

Project Leasa's Quilt Tote

There are a lot of great totes out there, but this is my favorite: Modern Quilts tote bag by Project Leasa. Yes it includes grown-up language.

I got to meet Leasa during a workshop at QuiltCon 2024. I saw her walking by with this bag over her shoulder and knew I needed one too. Leasa is an amazing quilter! You can see more of her work on Instagram and in her Etsy shop.

A Bag from Ghana …or Hong Kong?

This is a story about bags. It’s also a story about community care, international politics, xenophobia, global trade routes, and haute couture. I promise reading the whole thing is worth your while! Article via Grace Rother.

Books for when you're carrying too much

The notion that our worth as humans is based on our productivity is so deeply ingrained in our culture that we mostly take it for granted. I want to stop doing that. I need to have a sense of myself outside the cycle of production and consumption. It’s taking a lot of digging to root out this toxic idea. Here are two books that are helping me:

The Plan by Kendra Adachi

I love Kendra Adachi, aka The Lazy Genius. Hers is a voice of calm and kindness, and unique in the arena of time management. Her new book is the first one I've ever read that centers compassion for yourself while managing your time and energy. It's very much needed in the world. I read an advance copy but it will be published very soon.

I Didn’t Do The Thing Today by Madeline Dore

If you found solace in books like How to Do Nothing and Four Thousand Weeks, I suggest this one too.

Madeline Dore comes at her thesis from so many different angles that her book becomes the kind of thing you can open to any page and benefit. Think of it as a book you could have around the house, sample at your leisure, and get niblets of wisdom on any given day. I got it from the library.

Speaking of Libraries...

Have you heard of the Library browser extension? If you do a lot of book shopping on a desktop or laptop computer, this is essential. It tells you whether the book you’re looking for is available through your local library!

Let’s connect.
